Price, Taxes and customs

In this article you will find

Base price

The base price corresponds to the “gross” value attributed to the product without the application of taxes, customs or potential discounts. It serves as the basis for the calculation of the tariff descent.

You can specify the currency: euro, dollar, pound sterling, etc.

Note that a base price necessarily requires a target recipient (field all the way to the right). This can be all of your customers, or on the contrary a specific (group of) customer(s). In this second case, it is possible for you to have several different base prices coexist, each applied to their own commercial scope.

Taxes

VAT :

Some taxes are mandatory for the vast majority of companies (VAT, for example). For VAT, you can notably modify the rate and define the one that applies to the concerned product.

Parafiscal Taxes:

Companies are sometimes subject to other types of contribution depending on characteristics specific to them, such as the eco-packaging tax. This space thus allows you to define the concerned tax, its amount and its validity dates.

In France, retailers do not manage identical taxes that are valid over different time periods.

When transitioning to N+1 taxes, you must update the existing taxes for year N rather than adding a new line for the upcoming taxes.

The “Parafiscal tax included” field allows you:

  • To indicate that the base price of your product includes the tax, which is therefore borne by the supplier (choose “YES”).

  • On the contrary, to indicate that the base price does not include the tax, which will therefore have to appear in the tariff descent (choose “NO”).

We also talk about it in our practical guide on tariff management!

Customs

The customs nomenclature code uniquely identifies imported and exported goods. It is used to determine the rate of customs duties of the common customs tariff or the applicable non-tariff measures. This depends on the country of origin as well as the country in which the product is imported.
