Massive tariff creation
How to create a pricing model?
Each year, you negotiate purchase prices with the central purchasing departments, which vary according to the discounts negotiated, the reductions granted and any applicable taxes. These calculations are constructed and parameterized in Gaia using the pricing models feature.
This article guides you through the creation of these models. Find out how to link them to products in the article on mass price creation.
In this article you will find
Create a new pricing model
Step 1: Access the functionality via the menu Data > Pricing Model and Bulk Duplication
Step 2: Click on the New template button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
Step 3: This takes you to the configuration page for your pricing template.
Pricing model details
When you create your tariff descent, a few items of information are mandatory:
The model name: we recommend a short, self-explanatory, easily distinguishable title (e.g. "CARREFOUR PERMANENT 2023").
Validity start date
The expiry date is not mandatory, except in a few cases. In fact, some plants require an end date.
Also, if you plan to use this model for promotional purposes, you'll need to add an end date.
Retailer(s)
Shops: these will be displayed automatically once you've selected the head office(s).
Sending mode: you can choose between a permanent, promotional or general mailing mode. Note that the sending mode called “General” allows you to send your products in both permanent and promotional modes (a single pricing model for both modes).
The label scale is not a mandatory field, but we strongly advise you to use it if you have two very similar pricing models (same products, same plants, same dates). It allows you to clearly distinguish the two models, without any risk of confusion.
This label scale is invisible to your customers.
Good practice: we recommend that you copy/paste the name you have given to your model.
Delivery terms, date type, delivery type
Price unit of measure
Currency: by default, "EUR" is already selected if the chosen destination is in Europe.
Calculation options: rounded or truncated.
Pricing model
Here you build the skeleton of the calculation that will be applied to the base price of your products. The first line of the descent will therefore always be the base price.
Click on the + symbol to add the number of discounts you require, and build the price descent according to your needs.
Remember: discounts are applied before the net purchase price. Conversely, taxes are applied after it.
Adding or subtracting steps in a calculation
Select the type of discount or tax
Add a label (mandatory for some connectors)
Indicate the value in figures
Specify currency or %.
Choose the application base
Depending on the nature of the discount, indicate the minimum/maximum order value
Choosing the right application base
Cumulative
If discounts are cumulated, they will have the same base of application (for example, the base purchase price).
In the image above, the two "Other invoice discounts" are cumulative.
Cascading
If the calculation is cascaded, the discounts will be applied on the basis of the previous one each time.
In the image above, "Fixed discount 2" is cascaded after "Fixed discount 1".
There are a few specific features depending on the plant. Find out which ones below.
Step 4: Once you've built your price descent, click Save.
Please note that the details and structure of the price list can no longer be modified. If changes are made at a later date, you'll need to create a new tariff model (duplication, explained below, can help).
Now that your price list has been finalized, you can apply it to the products it covers. We'll guide you through the process in the dedicated article.
Duplicating a pricing model
Duplicating an existing pricing template can be useful in certain situations:
if the template to be created is very similar to one of your existing templates, so you don't have to start from scratch.
if you wish to archive a template and replace it with a new one, which will take over and apply to the same products. You can add new products or remove products that are no longer sold.
Step 1: Access the functionality via the menu Data > Pricing Model and Bulk Duplication
Step 2: Click on the name of the price model you wish to duplicate.
Step 3: On the next page, you'll see the tariff template to be duplicated. Click on the blue Duplicate button at the top right of the screen.
Step 4: Configure the new pricing model to suit your needs. The first section of this article guides you through the entire process.
If the new pricing model is set to the same dates and retailers, Gaia asks you to indicate whether you wish to archive the previous model.
Click on Yes to confirm that this new tariff descent replaces the duplicated base. The latter is archived.
Click on No to create the new price list without replacing the previous one. Reminder: without a specific price list label, a product cannot have two price lists for the same plant, with the same dispatch mode (permanent, promotional) and over the same period (with overlapping dates).
Archive or delete an obsolete pricing model
Archive
Would you like to "detach" a pricing model from a product?
Simply add an expiry date to the price list, and save it. The current date must be at least D-1 in relation to the chosen expiry date.
After this date, the tariff is archived. It can be retrieved at a later date, if required.
Note: if you are archiving a template with a view to replacing it with another, it may be simpler to duplicate it. As seen in the previous section, duplication allows you to automatically archive the old run and replace it directly with the new one.
Delete
Unlike archiving, deleting permanently eliminates the tariff model and does not allow it to be retrieved at a later date.
To delete a tariff, simply click on the Delete button.
Retrieve an archived pricing model
A pricing model is archived when its expiry date has passed. This does not mean that it is deleted: it is possible to retrieve it.
Step 1: Access the function via the menu Data > Tariff template and mass duplication.
Step 2: In the search bar, in the validity dates field, select 1) Before and then 2) the current date.
Then click on Search.
All archived price models appear on the screen.
If required, you can unarchive a tariff template by moving or deleting its expiry date.
