Introduction to the GDSN Network

You will find a small introduction to the GDSN Network to help you better understand how it works.

In this article:

What is the GSDN (Global Data Synchronisation Network)?

It is a global network whose objective is to synchronize in real time the product sheets of manufacturers/wholesalers to distributors.

These exchanges, which are practiced worldwide, are based on standards under the control of the GS1 association (known for the invention of Gencod for example).

What is a Data Pool?

Data Pool: The name given to the GDSN network’s operators.

For example : Equadis is a GDSN Data Pool!

The flows are therefore directly sent on the GDSN network for manufacturers or received for retailers.

Our position as a Data Pool allows us to send your data directly to your customers’ Data Pools, without going through the checks of GS1 France for example!

This ensures a fluidity of exchanges and also guarantees the good quality of the data, each operator must be certified by GS1 International.

A Data pool can be Emitter (Source), it sends the data, or Receiver (Recipient), it receives the data, or both at the same time.

Equadis is today your operator (in the jargon of the GDSN, we call this a Data Pool). If you are a manufacturer, Equadis allows you to publish your products to your customers and if you are a purchasing center, Equadis allows you to receive all your products from your manufacturers.

What does this diagram tell you? :

  • That the data is under control throughout the processing chain

  • That each exchange benefits from a technical acknowledgment of receipt and a “business” acknowledgment of receipt

  • That by working with Equadis, you are in good hands!
