The 1st GS1 2024 release will be deployed in production on Feb 24th 2024.

You will find hereunder the main changes for the French, German and Benelux markets.

FRENCH MARKET:

  1. No addition or modification of rules: All the applied controls remain the same. Therefore no action from your side.

  2. Value lists update: The list of updated values are available on this link : 3.1.26 Liste des attributs et codes mis à jour FRANCE

  3. New: Product with components without GTIN: this new feature allows you to detail all the components without a GTIN code (ie in a box).

If you have this scenario, please come back to your dedicated CSM.

  1. Upgrade: nutritional program on multipacks: in a multipack, each component can have a different Nutriscore.

You will now be able to declare each Nutriscore on each component:

This will secure the accuracy of your data.

BENELUX MARKET:

  1. Change to instructions for bulk items: Change in the instructions for 'Consumer storage instructions' (consumerStorageInstructions) and 'Preparation instructions' (preparationInstructions), to clarify how to deal with storage instructions and preparation instructions that are available at case level.

  2. Update instruction attribute 'Daily nutrient value percentage precision code': Attribut GDSN: dailyValueIntakePercentMeasurementPrecisionCode. Si l'un des signes suivants pour le pourcentage de l'apport en valeur journalière figure sur l'étiquette, saisissez ici le code correspondant indiqué entre parenthèses : “<” (LESS_THAN), “<=” (LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL), “>” (GREATER_THAN), “>=” (GREATER_THAN_OR_EQUAL).
    You should use "APPROXIMATELY" if a % is used in 'Daily nutrient value percentage' and no other sign is present. Other options are not used.

  1. Attribut 'Packaging material quantity': The rule description and error messages are being changed so that the attribute 'Packaging material quantity' is always mandatory when a packaging material type code is used. New harmnoized warning: If packagingMaterialTypeCode is used, then packagingMaterialCompositionQuantity SHALL be used.

  2. New attribute: packagingMaterialClassificationCodeReference Identifies the packing material classification used in each packaging component. It is assumed that a packaging material classification would be a broader material grouping that other packaging materials would fit under as classified by a specific agency. This attribute is populated by local code lists.

GERMAN MARKET:

  1. New attribute : nutrientNameOnPackage/@languagecode

  3. New rule : Rule: If the specification Claim: Code of type [M080] is made, Claim on packaging [M554] must also be specified. It is not permitted to specify only Claim on packaging [M554].
